LYDD TOWN 0-7 BECKENHAM TOWN

Kent Reliance Senior Trophy First Round

Saturday 19th October

After ending last season runners up in the Senior Trophy we began our 2019/20 campaign away to SCEFL First Division side Lydd Town. Having played 240 minutes plus penalties in the last seven days against a strong Chatham team we still went into this game favourites and knew we needed to pick up where we left off before the two Chatham games and return to winning ways.

We opened the scoring after thirteen minutes thanks to Archie Johnson. A three minute brace from Ashley Carew solidified Becks’ position on the half hour mark and left the Lydders with a mountain to climb in the second half.

Malik Nosike finished off any hopes the home side had of getting back into the game making it 4-0 in the 52nd minute. Steve Townsend made it five in the 71st minute before Damian Ramsamy added a sixth in the 89th. There was just enough time for Tran West to wrap up the performance with a seventh in stoppage time.

Becks cruise into the Second Round of the Senior Trophy knowing that they cannot be drawn against the only team to beat them in last season’s competition as Chatham Town were beaten comfortably by West Wickham. Next for Becks is another away trip, this time Canterbury City are our hosts on the 26th October in this SCEFL Premier Division fixture before the visit of Lordswood on November 2nd and then a League cup tie hosting Rusthall under the EPA floodlights on November 6th.
