SCEFL Premier Division

Saturday 21st September

On the back of our 3-2 win in midweek against Erith & Belvedere which was our fifth victory in a row, we visited lower mid table Greenwich Borough. Borough had gone unbeaten in their last three league games before meeting us including two draws so we knew it could be a tight affair.

Becks started brightly and took the lead in the 8th minute thanks to Stefan Cox continuing his recent good form. Disappointingly the home side equalised on half time through Kemo Darboe to send us back to square one at the start of the second half.

We started the second half even better than the first, this time Steve Townsend scored just four minutes after the restart. Kemo Darboe thought he had done enough to earn his side a point when he equalised with five minutes left to play but luckily for us an own goal in the 89th minute gave us a second consecutive 3-2 victory.

The win keeps Becks in second level on points with Chatham Town who comfortably beat Lordswood 4-0. The defeat leaves Greenwich sitting in 16th in the table. Next up for Becks is a London Senior Cup clash with Championship side Brentford on Wednesday 25th September. Kick off will be 19:45. Following that we have a double header at the EPA hosting Bearsted on Saturday 28th and Crowborough Athletic on Wednesday 2nd October.
