We hosted fifth placed Deal Town on a very rainy Saturday afternoon. We went into this game sitting second in the table just one point behind Fisher.

The game started with a good competitive spirit which continued throughout and somewhat against the run of play Sam Wilson volleyed home a corner on the half hour mark. Thankfully they only led for a couple of minutes as a beautiful through ball released Jesse Darko who lifted the ball over the incoming goalkeeper to level the score.

The second half continued in a similar way with Beckenham just edging it but both sides showing signs of taking the lead. Another Deal corner caused us problems but Michael McEntegart pulled off a great save to his bottom left to deny the header and earn him the man of the match award after the game. Becks took the lead in the 70th minute stemming from a free kick on the edge of the box. The ball was delivered towards the back post and tipped by the goalkeeper which led to the ball being bundled into the post and slowly rolling across the line before Ike Robinson poked it in and proceeded to celebrate with the fans at one side of the goal. Stefan Wright hyped up the crowd as celebrations died down ready for the last push for victory. Becks pushed for a third but some great defensive plays denied one more goal to seal the deal.

The win keeps the pressure on Fisher at the top who also won and helps build momentum for the title challenge we are mounting as we head towards the new year. Deal’s defeat saw them slip to seventh in the table after some unfavourable results elsewhere.
