SCEFL Premier Division
Saturday 18th November
Beckenham Town 1-1 Lordswood
Returning to home turf we were three points clear at the top of the table and well aware of the chasing pack closing in behind after a mixed run of results on our recent travels.
Becks took the lead in the 9th minute thanks to Richard Atkins’ glancing header at the near post from Billy Bennett’s whipped in ball from the left.
Stefan Wright had a touch of the Benteke’s as he got to the ball at the back post but unfortunately just clipped it wide before half time.
Lordswood equalised in the 57th minute. They gained possession by pushing the defender off the ball down by the corner flag then crossed it in to the back post which was then smartly headed back across goal taking the goalkeeper out of the equation and finally put in by Jordan Wells.
Beckenham were looking far more likely to take all three points as we neared the end of the game with an abundance of chances in and around the box. One of our best attempts came from Jesse Darko’s turn and shot which the goalkeeper did very well to get down to his bottom left and save.
The point left Becks 1 point above Fisher at the top ahead of the visit to Cray Valley in midweek.
