East Grinstead 1–1  Beckenham Town

Recent home victories against Hythe and Sheppey coupled with East Grinstead’s poor run of form had made this fixture a relegation six pointer and one that Becks felt they had to win to stand any chance of pulling off one of the greatest of great escapes.

They came very close to recording that win but were undone once again in injury time when a foul led to an East Grinstead penalty which was slotted home gleefully by Glenn Wilson.

It was no consolation to Becks and their large travelling contingent that they had done so well to manage the game from the moment they took the lead through a well taken penalty from Finley Roberts on 18 minutes and a welcome clean sheet looked like it was going to be achieved with relative ease but alas it was not to be and Becks will now need a footballing miracle to remain in the Isthmian League for a third season.
