Ebbsfleet United FC 4 – 1 Beckenham Town FC

Kent Senior Cup Quarter Final, 5 March 2024

Despite going down to a 4-1 defeat there were a lot of positives for Becks to take away from this entertaining game in which a strong Ebbsfleet side were made to work hard for their victory.

Becks came under pressure from the off and did well to keep their hosts at bay with a combination of good defending, good goalkeeping and some poor finishing from the Fleet forward line.  Eventually Fleet’s pressure did become too much and they took the lead just before the 30 minute mark through Dominic Samuel. Samuel was now up and running and he went on to complete his hat-trick in the first half and the sides went into the break with Fleet 3-0 up.

The 3-0 half time score line became 4-0 shortly after the break when Omari Sterling-James got on the score sheet. Becks could have easily crumbled at this point but they stuck to their task and were rewarded when, after a penalty save from debutant Tom Crump, they grabbed a consolation goal through Freddie Nyhus.
