2022/23 PRE SEASON PREVIEW

With our first title since 1927/28 in the bag we look to push on into the new season in the Pitching In Isthmian Division One South East (ISE). This is a long awaited step up in the non league pyramid and this great squad will be looking to stamp their place in Step 4. We will look more into the rest of the league in a future article including facing off with some old rivals once again.

For now lets look to the more immediate future. We have our pre season schedule packed with seven games at the moment, all in July. Ranging from teams in Step 7 all the way up to Step 2 it provides a wide variety of challenges, team building and opportunities to put names on the team sheet for the FA Cup Preliminary Round and the ISE kick off.

AWAY vs REIGATE PRIORY

2nd July 2:30pm

Our opening pre season game sees us go to fellow league champions. They cruised to their title proving that they are ready for their step 7 challenge. Reigate entered the inaugural FA Cup in 1971 and this will be a chance to try new ideas against a team a few leagues below but full of confidence and with a home crowd behind them.

HOME vs WELLING UNITED

9th July 2:00pm

Our next match is our first at The EPA as we welcome the Step 2 side. This will be an interesting task for Becks, potentially buoyed by the home crowd and the chance of proving themselves against much better opposition on paper.

AWAY vs PHOENIX SPORTS

12th July 7:30pm

Our first mid week fixture under the lights has us making the trip to a team we have replaced in the ISE after their relegation last season. They have made it clear they are looking to come straight back up with multiple early signings and will provide a good measuring stick for where our boys are at.

AWAY vs CROWBOROUGH ATHLETIC

16th July 3:00pm

Mid way through our campaign we travel to a ground we’re very familiar with. They finished mid table in our old stomping ground the Southern Counties East Premier Division (SCEFLP) and were runners up to a dominant Sheppey United in the Challenge Cup. This will hopefully be a welcome reminder of how far we’ve come in the last few years.

HOME vs HORSHAM YMCA

23rd July 2:00pm

Our penultimate game of this stretch sees us welcome a team that finished mid table in Step 5 last season. We don’t get to play a side from the Southern Combination League too often so its always a nice opportunity to play against different opposition.

HOME vs KENT FOOTBALL UNITED

26th July 7:00pm

Recently changed to a home fixture this will be the second of three home games to lead us into the new season.

HOME vs CRAY WANDERERS

30th July 2:00pm

Our final game of pre season is our nearly annual visit of London’s oldest association football club. The Step 3 side will once again be a stern challenge for us and a great chance to try out everything the other games have taught us against a top quality side.
